The idea of establishing a foundation dedicated to promoting civil dialogue and social reconciliation emerged in the aftermath of the painful crisis that the Kingdom of Bahrain witnessed in February 2011, and the social rifts it created. This initiative came from a deep awareness of the devastating dangers that social division, sectarian tension, extremism, violence, and terrorism could pose to the future of the country and coming generations.
We are proud to have received the approval and blessing of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, considering that His Highness is first and foremost a Bahraini citizen, and given his keen interest in preserving the genuine and authentic Bahraini values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Thus, the Bahrain Foundation for Dialogue was established as a private, non-profit, and non-political institution, seeking to unite the people of our beloved kingdom through promoting the values of constructive civil dialogue. We believe that dialogue, positive coexistence, tolerance, and cooperation are the most effective methods to combat extremism, sectarianism, and hatred.
In all of this, we are guided by our noble human traditions and authentic religious values, inspired by the saying of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family and companions): “The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever.”
We ask Allah for success and guidance.
